Romeoville pulls off last-minute upset against Plainfield Central

With a Class 7A playoff spot on the line, Plainfield Central was looking for a win over host Romeoville.
Romeoville quarterback Jacob Bambule had other thoughts. He led the Spartans to a thrilling 49-46 last-minute victory over Plainfield Central on Friday night in the Southwest Prairie.
Bambule completed 23-of-39 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns.
Running back Perez Ford had 11 carries for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Perez also threw for a score.
“Our kids never got down and kept battling,” Romeoville coach Jeff Kuna said. “I am real proud of them, especially the way they played on senior night with the game on the line.”
Plainfield Central (5-4, 3-4) was led by running back Jordan Ellingwood (17 rushes, 100 yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown).
Plainfield Central took a 46-42 lead on a 1-yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Tim Blake with 2:29 left in the game.
Bambule then led the Spartans (3-6, 2-5) down the field and connected with Duvaun Goodlow (eight catches, 105 yards, two touchdowns) in the corner of the end zone for the game-winning score with 38 seconds left in the game.
