Walter Payton was hoping to become the first Public League girls golf team to get to sectionals but they'll have to wait for another year after taking fifth place in the St. Ignatius Regional at Cog Hill No. 1 in Lemont.

The Grizzlies will be represented individually at the St. Ignatius Sectional after senior Blake Murphy (89) and freshman Kelsey Iwaoka (98). City champion Annie Quast did not make the cut.

As a team the Grizzlies shot a 410 while Lyons Township took the team title with a 350. Fenwick (2nd, 360) and St. Ignatius (3rd, 381) will also advance to sectionals.

In the Hoffman Estates Regional, Northside College Prep took 10th place (465) but Tanya Nagatani will advance to the Rockford Sectional after shooting a 96. Maine South won the team title with a 371.
