MINOOKA -- It was a happy homecoming for the Minooka High School football team.

The Indians built a comfortable 24-0 halftime lead Friday and rolled to a 31-7 win over Oswego East in Southwest Prairie Conference play.

Leading the way for the Indians (2-3, 1-2)was Elliot Allen. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior had another productive night running the ball for Minooka.

In the first half alone, Allen broke loose for 140 rushing yards on 16 carries. He finished the game with 181 yards on 25 tries and 2 touchdowns, including a 65-yard punt return for a score in the third quarter.

Allen has now rushed for 492 yards (6.6 average) in five games.

"Elliot Allen had a great game," Minooka coach Bert Kooi said. "We changed things up to get him some more touches. We switched from a double-wing to an I-formation.

"We challenged Elliot to make some plays. He certainly did that tonight. And the offensive line did a super job of creating running lanes for Allen."

Early in the first quarter, Minooka recovered an Oswego Eas fumble at the Wolves' 45-yard line. Seven plays later, sophomore quarterback Mitchell Brozovich threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Garrett May.

The Indians' Nick Petrovic blocked an Oswego East punt in the second quarter to set up the game's second score -- a 1-yard Allen run with 11:22 left in first-half play. That was a 4-play, 27-yard scoring march.

Later in the second quarter, Brozovich, who completed 7-of-12 passes for 68 yards with no interceptions, threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Josh Larsen. In that 11-play touchdown trek, Minooka ran the ball 10 times.

"We did a good job of controlling the ball," Kooi said. "Brozovich did a nice job of throwing the ball and running the offense. He had a good game."

With 18 seconds remaining in the first half, AJ Zalewski kicked a 37-yard field goal to give Minooka a 24-0 halftime lead.

"Zalewski's kicking was a key," Kooi said. "He kept pinning Oswego East deep in their own territory. He kept the ball away from Oswego East's top kick returner.

"Overall, our special teams played very well."

The Indians finished with 320 yards, including 252 rushing. Minooka's defense limited the Wolves (1-4, 0-3) to 133 rushing yards and 11 passing for 144 total.

Allen scored Minooka's lone second-half TD with his punt return.
