Beacon-News All-Area girls soccer team

Emily Heimerdinger, Kaneland

Our Player of the Year, Heimerdinger capped a four-year varsity career with her best season yet, finishing with an area-best 33 goals, 19 assists and 85 points. An Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) All-State pick, she also earned MVP honors in the inaugural season of the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference. She led the Beacon-News area in scoring for the second straight year and is a three-time member of our All-Area squad.

Jessica Saffell, West Aurora

Junior forward is back on our All-Area squad for the second straight season. The All-DVC performer was fourth in the area in points (41) and third in goals (18) despite receiving double-team defensive attention.

Amanda Lulek, Geneva

Sophomore forward netted 11 goals and dished out five assists for a total of 27 points in earning All-UEC River Division acclaim.

Jenna Kentgen, Metea Valley

Freshman forward ranked eighth in the area with 30 points and seventh in goals with 13. She earned All-UEC Valley Division recognition.

Megan Green, Waubonsie Valley

Senior midfielder helped lead the Warriors on a 10-game winning streak late in the season. She was sixth in the area in points with 36, tied for eighth in goals with 12 (half of which were match-winners) and tied for third in assists with 12.

Catherine Allon, Geneva

The junior midfielder helped lead the Vikings to the top spot in the Upstate Eight Conference River Division. She finished seventh in the area in points with 33, eighth in goals with 12 and sixth in assists with nine.

Lisa Bajkowski, Oswego

Senior overcame an injury to win IHSSCA All-Section honors for the second straight year. She finished with five goals and eight assists for 18 points and helped the Panthers go on an eight-game winning streak late in the season.

Carli Schlaker, Oswego East

The junior, a two-time All-SPC choice, posted eight goals and four assists for a total of 20 points.

Jenna Romano, Waubonsie Valley

The sophomore has the ability to control the midfield and also drop back on defense. She was also an offensive threat, finishing with six goals and six assists for a total of 18 points.

Alexis McKay, Metea Valley

Junior provided a strong defensive presence for the Mustangs, clearing potentially dangerous balls, dispossessing opponents and cutting off passes.

Megan Geldernick, Metea Valley

An IHSSCA All-State performer, her tenacity and consistency in goal was a large reason the Mustangs posted a 12-10-1 record in their inaugural varsity season. Geldernick earned four solo shutouts and also shared in five other shutouts.
