For the Oak Forest girls volleyball team, consistency is a goal.

The Bengals were tested Thursday night by Oak Lawn, going three games before prevailing 25-22, 24-26, 25-21 in a South Suburban crossover.

Oak Forest improved to 5-5, 3-0, while Oak Lawn fell to 2-3, 1-2.

“We’re struggling to put together a solid start to finish,” Bengals coach Amanda Brown said. “We’ve still got some work to do. We know we’re going to have those lapses, but we just kind of got it handed to us (in Game 2). We let them creep back in and gave them hope. To their credit they went in and rode it through the second and third game(s), clawing and fighting. But our girls came make and made a stand.”

Kaitlynn Zickus had 31 assists and four aces, Autumn Seiler had 20 digs and nine kills and Stephanie Dagenais had five blocks and eight kills for Oak Forest.

For the Spartans, Olivia Lindner had 10 digs, seven kills, two blocks and two aces while Becky Bradshaw added nine digs, 10 kills and a block.

Oak Lawn coach Dennis McNamara wasn’t pleased with the 13 service errors for his team in the match but had a positive outlook.

“We’re still young,” he said. “We just have to play with more confidence.
