Boys Bowling: Lincoln-Way Central finds gear against Oak Forest

Lincoln-Way Central got off to a slow start in its season opener Tuesday vs. Oak Forest.
After falling behind the Bengals after Game 1, however, Ryan Frengen tossed the high game of the night with a 214 to lead a Knights rally for a 1,748-1,587 win at Oak Forest Bowl.
For Frengen, it was a happy return. He bowled for the Knights his freshman and sophomore years, but had to sit out last season.
“I got in trouble at school, and didn’t bowl on the team last year,” he said. “I’m definitely excited to be back. I think this team is going to win a lot.”
Oak Forest (0-1) led 882-851 after the opener before the Knights posted a 897-705 edge in the finale. Dan Derby (367 series) tossed a 198 in the second game to back Frengen, who had the high series at 393.
“The oil went up in the second game and that helped us out,” Frengen said.
Seth Gajdorus (367) and Greg Wymer (330) contributed for Central. Kyle Sinwelski’s 375 series led Oak Forest. Erik Labuda had five straight strikes on his way to a 212 in the opener and finished with a 368.
Oak Lawn 1,901, Tinley Park 1,812: Oak Lawn’s Ken VandeWerken led all bowlers with a 246 game and 437 series at Palos Lanes. Chris Bennett paced Tinley Park with a 427 series in the South Suburban crossover, which represented the season opener for both teams.
