When T.F. North came out and took an early 20-0 lead behind three touchdown passes from senior quarterback Dion Beecham, it looked as if Oak Forest would be facing its fourth consecutive first-round exit in the playoffs.

But 41 consecutive points catapulted Oak Forest to its first playoff win. The Bengals came from behind for a 48-26 victory Friday night in the Class 6A first-round clash at Wilbur Petree Field in Calumet City.

Oak Forest (7-3), which was held to 63 yards of total offense in the first half, trailed 20-6 at the break. But the Bengals broke out in the second half, exploding for 28 unanswered points in the third quarter.

Division-I bound speedster Tevin Coleman (151 total yards) paced Oak Forest, scoring three touchdowns. His 65-yard dart tied the score with six minutes left in the third quarter. Later in the period, he turned a short pass from quarterback Thomas Zale into a 39-yard touchdown to give the Bengals the lead.

Zale rushed for 118 yards and two TDs, and Matt Barry (19 rushes, 105 yards) added two TDs to help cement the win for Oak Forest. The Bengals move on to face Lemont in Round 2.
