NORTH JUDSON -- About the time of the Rensselaer game, North Judson, then 0-2, found itself as a team.
Since then, the Bluejays are 4-1. Their only loss since beating the Bombers has been to 3A Culver Academy.
On Friday night, with its offense clicking like a jeweled timepiece behind senior quarterback Drake Barrett, North Judson rolled to a 55-16 win over West Central.
Barrett scored on runs of 5, 4 and 16 yards and connected with Luke Gross on a 10-yard pass.
He went 11-of-12 in the air for 120 yards passing.
"We expect our quarterback to play well, to be a good runner and to take advantage of every snap, and to use every opportunity and to make throws," said Bluejays coach Kevin Cox,
Barrett would have to get a high grade for his evening of work.
His running backs, senior Terry Howard (10 carries for 137 yards, two TDs) and Andrew Frasure (8-35 and a TD) kept the Trojans defense off balance enough to help things along.
Cox was especially pleased with an offensive line that had to put in extra preparation for the Trojans, who mix it up defensively with five or six different styles
"It was different preparing to play them this week," Cox said.
"I was very pleased how we played up front, and the way our backs (Howard and Frasure) played.
That front line, which is playing without injured veteran John Fisher, includes Jeff Jacobsma, Quentin Barnhart, Jordan Davis, Tyler Bailey, Luke Gross and Chandler Hockstedler.
North Judson (4-3) ran for 291 yards. The Trojans (1-6) ran for a 230, but couldn't get deep into Bluejays territory.
