Antioch running back Cameron White rushed 20 times for 178 yards and four touchdowns on Friday night.
Yet, he may not have been the best running back on the football field at North Chicago High.
That’s because Warhawk senior Jimon Hill rushed 11 times for 196 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a 48-yard touchdown in the final home game of his outstanding prep career.
Still, White’s supporting cast was stronger than Hill’s, and the result was a 44-34 victory for the Sequoits that improved them to 8-0 on the season. North Chicago fell to a disappointing 2-6.
White scored on runs of three and 12 yards in the first half, and on runs of 65 and 4 yards in the third quarter.
He was supported on offense by steady Steve Lorenzini, who rushed 25 times for 123 yards and a score.
The game was in doubt until the final minutes. Antioch led 41-34 until Vinnie Holm nailed a 41-yard field goal with 4:33 lead to make it a two-possession game.
Antioch led all the way, as the score advances from 143-0 to 28-6 to 35-12 to 35-28 to 41-28 to 41-34 to the final 44-34.
The Sequoits will try to complete a perfect regular season next Friday against rival Lakes.
