A dominant effort from No. 25 Glenbrook South managed to take some of the drama out of the school’s 50th homecoming. Or perhaps its fans were just saving their voices for next week.

A 42-0 victory over Niles West on Saturday afternoon kept the Titans unbeaten in the Central Suburban South heading into a conference title showdown at Maine South on Friday. “We’ve been wanting this all year. It’s been our goal to get to the conference championship and we’re finally here,” running back Alex Leet said.

Glenbrook South (7-1, 4-0) scored on six of its first eight possessions and outgained the Wolves 374-116.

Mac Zabriskie passed for 128 yards and completed the final seven of his 10 attempts, including touchdowns to Sully Stadler and Charlie Tisch.

“Coach (Mike Noll) wanted to pass the ball a little more so we could get some confidence going into Maine South,” Zabriskie said.

Leet rushed for a team-best 87 yards and two TDs on 12 carries. Ose Ilenikhena scored his team’s first points on a 42-yard reverse in the first quarter, and Kevin Schroeder followed with a two-yard scoring plunge on his team’s next possession en route to finishing with 66 yards on eight attempts.

Niles West’s Nick Johnson had a team-best 56 yards on 13 carries, but the Wolves (2-6, 0-4) advanced past the Titans’ 30-yard line only once. That 13-play drive in the first half was ended by a fumble.
