Max Pompilus caught a career-high three touchdown passes and John Strickland scored on three touchdown runs as visiting Glenbrook South cruised past Niles West 56-7 Friday night in the Central Suburban League South.

Pompilus (five receptions, 104 yards) scored two TDs in the second quarter on passes of 13 and 30 yards from Matt Jenkins to put the Titans ahead 35-0 at halftime. GBS (5-2, 3-0), which has won five consecutive games, scored its first two touchdowns of the game off interceptions.

"They were playing man-to-man so we had some shots," GBS coach Mike Noll said. "(Pompilus) got open at times. Matt threw the ball well."

The victory set up another yearly showdown with Maine South (5-2, 3-0) for the conference championship next Friday in Glenview. Noll is 0-8 against the Hawks in his career and Maine South owns a 48-game conference win streak heading into the game.

Pompilus scored the first TD against Niles West on a 48-yard TD catch. Strickland scored on TD runs of 1 and 32 yards in the first quarter and then added the game's only touchdown in the third quarter on a 5-yard run. Niles West (1-6, 0-3), which has lost four consecutive games, missed a 25-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter.

The Wolves scored their only touchdown on Santiago Ochoa's 14-yard run with 6:40 remaining in the game.
