After battling to a 14-14 halftime tie with Glenbard South, Nazareth scored on the opening drive of the third quarter and never looked back, earning a 28-14 road victory Friday night in Glen Ellyn.

The Roadrunners (2-0) were able to move the ball on the ground all night, especially sophomore Rudy Romagnano, who rushed for 123 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns.

Glenbard South (0-2) score on its opening drive of the game to take 6-0 lead when Wes Sanders broke loose for a 50-yard touchdown run. The Raiders also tied the game just before halftime when Tyler Padera (13 of 25, 159 yards) tossed a 68-yard scoring strike to Matt Loos with less than a minute left in the second quarter.

Nazareth's shortest scoring drive of the game was 69 yards, and the Roadrunners scored all four of their touchdowns on the ground, including a two-yard run by quarterback Matt Behrendt on the first series of the fourth quarter that provided the final margin.

Junior Joe Yruegas (61 yards) also added a 20-yard scoring run for Nazareth in the second period.

"This (win) is a great confidence boost for the offense," Roadrunners coach Tim Racki said. "Especially for the offensive line and how hard they have been working."
