Elmwood Park stays unbeaten

John Mazzoni is back home and Elmwood Park is glad to have hin.

Mazzoni grew up in the town, but moved to Arizona before his freshman season. He transferred back to Elmwood Park last year and now the senior is playing a big role for the unbeaten Tigers.

Mazzoni scored 19 points on Wednesday as Elmwood Park improved to 4-0 with a 64-38 nonconference win over Morgan Park Academy.

"He's a 6-5 guy who can handle the ball," Tigers coach Dennis Keizer said.

Mazzoni also is a member of one of the deeper, more experienced Elmwood Park teams in a while.

"We've got a real senior-laden team," Keizer said. "We're versatile, we have some size."

John Mooi added 12 points for the Tigers.
