Krates Litos scored four goals to lead Morgan Park Academy to a 4-0 victory over Bishop McNamara at the Class 1A Lisle Sectional semifinals Saturday at Benedictine University.
Litos, a junior forward who has 34 goals this year, struck three times in a minute midway through the first half, including a pair of goals 10 seconds apart, by consistently speeding through the defense.
“I was definitely on today,” Litos said. “I think the defense got lazy. I don’t know if they knew I was as fast as I am, but that always helps. Speed kills.”
"That’s a typical day for him," Morgan Park Academy coach Dalyn Drown said. "He
probably could have had about three more. He’s just a well-rounded
player. He’s strong and fast."
Milan Tica had two assists for the Warriors (18-3), who have won 11 straight matches, while Yazin Akkawi had one assist. Litos capped the scoring with an unassisted goal with 16:43 left in the second half. Bishop McNamara finished 9-11-1.
Morgan Park Academy will face Timothy Christian in Tuesday’s sectional final.
The Trojans (16-5-1) routed Francis Parker 6-0 behind goals from Jon Workman, Nate Middel, Corey Phillip, Justin Groenewold, Taylor Slager and Jeremy Hoving.
Groenewold, Jake Schemper and Jeb Nash had assists and goalie Peter Tameling made four saves to record the shutout for Timothy, which outshot Parker (6-9-2) 19-6.
