Watching Robeson pull within five points, Morgan Park quarterback DaRon Brown looked at the clock, saw 1:09 remaining in the half and decided to go to work.

Moments later, Brown’s 20-yard burst set up his own 35-yard touchdown strike to wideout Calvin Brookins.

The drive ignited Morgan Park as it scored five unanswered touchdowns in a 54-13 win over the Raiders Wednesday afternoon at Gately Stadium in the Public League playoffs.

“That’s just running the two-minute drill,”  Brown said of the five-play, 61-yard drive that put the Mustangs up 24-13 at the break. “We ran that a lot in practice over the summer, so I was prepared for it and it’s a fun [offense] to run.”

Brown (166 yards rushing, 97 yards passing) accounted for five touchdowns. He rushed for touchdowns of 43, two and one yards for the Mustangs (8-4). He also connected with Brookins on a 62-yard touchdown pass.

Senior running back Dominique Bell complemented Brown. Bell (20 carries, 141 yards) scored on touchdown runs of 15, two and 12 yards. His backup, Daeshan Hurley, scored on a 12-yard touchdown run. Defensive back Brian Jones recorded two interceptions for the Mustangs.

Running back Martinez Young scored on a 10-yard run for the Raiders (9-2). Sophomore quarterback Juwane Pipkins added an eight-yard touchdown pass to his twin brother, receiver Duwane Pipkins.
