Naperville North rushed for 235 yards and dominated the clock in its 27-14 win over Marist in a Class 8A playoff game Friday in Chicago.
Huskies quarterback Matt LaCosse (95 rushing yards) led the Huskies offense, which finished with five drives that took more than five minutes off the clock.
North did a great job running the ball, especially that quarterback,'' Marist coach Pat Dunne said. They held that clock right there and did a great job of executing when they had to. North jumped out so quick and had that momentum.''
The Huskies (7-3) drove down the field on the opening drive and scored on an Alex Kinne eight-yard touchdown run.
Naperville North intercepted Marist quarterback Luke Oosterbaan and scored a touchdown on the ensuing possession. The Huskies third rushing score extended the lead to 21-0 late in the second quarter.
Oosterbaan finished 22-for-31 for 206 yards and two passing touchdowns, both of them nine-yarders to Mike Skalitzky in the fourth quarter for Marist (6-4).
