Updated: December 16, 2011 11:39PM

Deerfield’s sophomore duo of Michael Alfieri and Eric Porter led the Warriors to a 57-46 victory over Maine East, Friday in Park Ridge. Alfieri did most of his damage from the inside scoring 20 points (9-11 field goals), while Porter connected on 4-5 three-pointers, en route to 16 points.

“They’re good. They can play,” Deerfield coach JJ Pearl said about his sophomores. “They’re going to be a force to be reckoned with for the next few years.”

The Central Suburban North game was tight throughout the first half, as Deerfield (4-4, 2-1) maintained a 25-24 lead against the Blue Demons (2-7, 1-2). A three-point basket to open the third quarter by Aaron Shannon, gave Maine East a 27-25 lead. But the Warriors went on a 12-0 run, as Alfieri had four baskets in close, all on assists from Mack Watts for a 37-27 lead.

Maine East would get no closer than eight points thereafter. Shannon and Evan Nazzal each had 15 points for Maine East. Watts had five points, eight assists and five rebounds.
