York senior running back Ryan Kent was motivated by the chance to make history Saturday.

In a battle of undefeated teams, the No. 25 Dukes pulled out a 26-16 West Suburban Conference Silver victory over Lyons in Western Springs.

‘‘This is the first time we've been 6-0... in football,'' Kent said. ‘‘This is awesome and it was a big win for us.''

York (6-0, 4-0) capitalized on a pair of fourth-quarter turnovers to break open a close game.

Trailing 13-10, LT (5-1, 3-1) was driving, but fumbled the ball after a long run and York's Nick Skuteris recovered the ball at the Dukes' 29.

Three plays later Kent sprinted 64 yards for a touchdown to put York ahead 19-10 with 8:36 remaining in the game. The extra-point was no good, but York's Jason DuBois recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. After eating clock, Ken Bosenberg punched the ball in from 1-yard out to give the Dukes a 26-10 lead with just 1:19 remaining.

‘‘It's the first time in school history that York has a 6-0 varsity football team,'' York coach Bill Lech said. ‘‘It sets us up to play for a conference championship at our place.''

York will take on No. 3 Glenbard West on Friday in Elmhurst.

LT's Mark Sewall caught a five-yard TD pass from Brian Kelley (12-for-19, 102 yards) with 4.8 seconds left, but it wasn't enough for the Lions.
