Dexter Taylor ran for two touchdowns and Lockport scored on many big plays to ruin Lincoln-Way Central’s Homecoming with a 37-10 victory in a SouthWest Suburban Blue meeting Friday night in New Lenox.

The win improves the Porters to 4-1, 2-1 while Central falls to 1-4, 1-2.

“Right now 4-1 sounds good,” Lockport coach Don McKillip said. “I thought the kids did a good job of controlling their emotions and were ready to play.”

Trailing 14-0, the Knights cut the lead in half on a 1-yard touchdown run by Brett Ditchman (30 carries, 105 yards) with 7:27 left in the first half. But less than a minute later Taylor answered back with a 65-yard burst down the sideline and the Porters were on their way.

“I just followed my blockers and was able to get outside with my speed,” said Taylor, who finished with 10 carries for 133 yards. “We threw them off with some plays and it was wide open for me.”

Taylor opened the scoring with a 5-yard run. Mike Haldemann made it 14-0 with a 78-yard TD burst. Quarterback Billy Reed added a 49-yard TD run with 1:15 left in the second quarter to put Lockport ahead 27-10 at halftime.

A 36-yard field goal by Stave Fankam and a 5-yard touchdown run by Richie Guess rounded out the scoring.
