Lisle came out the victor in a physical game Sept. 16 as it prevailed over visiting Herscher 3-0 at Wilde Field.
The victory moved Lisle to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the Interstate Eight Conference.
The first half saw total dominance on the part of the Lions, scoring three times on 17 shot attempts.
Leading the way for the Lions were freshman Arck Raclawski, senior Konrad Raclawski and senior captain Viktor Vajda with all hitting the back of the net.
Two of Lisle's goals in the first half came in a matter of 43 seconds.
"I believe that we hung around with them (in the second half with neither team scoring). They are the best team in the conference. Coming out in the second half and playing the way that we did, I thought we played really well," Herscher coach Alan High said.
Lisle did outshoot the Tigers 27-9 in the second half.
While Lisle did leave Wilde Field with a victory, Lions coach Paul Kohorn wasn't exactly pleased at how it was achieved.
"We didn't play well at all today, we were out-hustled on a muddy field, I was not happy with how we played, but I am pleased with the win. We just didn't do things well, we were out of sync and I really think that we were looking ahead to Thursday's game (Sept. 18 at Manteno, a state quarterfinalist last season)," he said. "Obviously, we dominated the game today, but I didn't feel that we played well."
Lisle, which returns 10 of 11 starters this fall from last season's 16-4 sectional semifinalist squad, is at Montini on Sept. 20 for a 10 a.m. game.
The Lions return to home territory Sept. 23 with a 7 p.m. game at Benedictine University against Somonauk.
