Tyler Hook, Andrew stay on target, beat L-W North

With a chance to kill two birds with one stone Friday night, Andrew quarterback Tyler Hook and his teammates came out on a mission against Lincoln-Way North.

Slinging the ball around the field in the first half, Hook led Andrew to a big halftime lead on its way to a 36-14 SouthWest Suburban Red win in Frankfort.

The win keeps Andrew (5-3, 5-1) in the hunt for the conference title with Thornton and Lincoln-Way West.

“This was a big one for us,” Hook said. “It keeps our momentum going, and that sets up the conference championship. We still have a lot to play for.”

Andrew will play Thornton in Week 9.

Hook finished 19-of-23 for 247 yards and four touchdowns. Jarvis Franklin ran 16 times for 62 yards and a score.

Tre Lewis led Lincoln-Way North (4-4, 2-4) with 54 rushing yards on eight carries and a 1-yard score.

Completing 11 straight passes at one point, Hook helped Andrew take advantage of two first-half Lincoln-Way North turnovers.

Touchdown passes to Joe Sanfilippo (7 yards), David Giles (20 yards), and Alex Zappavigna (37 yards) helped blow open the game. Franklin scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter.

With 40 seconds to go in the first half, Hook led the team into field-goal range, setting up a Mike Elhers 31-yard field goal as time expired.

“We moved the ball down the field and didn’t punch it in, but we got three points,” Hook said. “The two-minute offense looked good.”

North needs a win in its Week 9 game against Stagg to even be eligible for the state playoffs, not considering the Phoenix’s low playoff points.

“We’ll go out and try to play our best the way we always do,” North coach George Czart said. “We want to go out winners.”
