Boys Bowling: Minooka puts away Lincoln-Way East

Minooka got hot late in the first game Monday and stayed that way while recording a 2,172 two-game pinfall total in a dual-meet victory over Lincoln-Way East at Thunder Bowl in Mokena.
All five Minooka bowlers had strong stretches in the 2,172-1,914 victory as the improved to 6-1 in duals.
“We have five guys who are all capable of shooting well,” Minooka coach Derrick Rapsky said. “It a question of who’s it going to be. It could be a different one every match. If all five are on, we can do great things this year.”
The Indians nearly did that Monday when four bowlers topped 200 on the way to a 1,152 second game. Rapsky thought his team had a chance for a school-record 1,200 game.
“It was a nice day, but we probably could’ve shot even better,” he said, alluding to seven one-pin spares left on the table.
Sophomore Zach Segatto (244, 258) had strikes on his last seven rolls of the first game, and Colton Eining (257, 192) did it on his last six rolls as the Indians turned a deficit into a 21-pin lead after the first game.
Nick Beeler then bounced back from a 138 first game with a 257 that included eight consecutive strikes. Justin Shepard added a 244 and Grant Duncan a 201 in the second game.
Josh Jankauskas had high game (215) and series (428) for the Griffins, who dropped to 3-3.
“We have a handful of really good bowlers; it’s a matter of choosing the best five on any given day,” East coach Mike Teare said.
Rapsky hopes Minooka’s success on its first trip to Thunder Bowl this year can be repeated Saturday on the same lanes as Lincoln-Way East hosts an invitational.
“You can feel good about it today, but everything might not be the same on Saturday,” Rapsky said.
