Lincoln-Way East 9, T.F. South 8: C.J. Sandman drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Griffins (2-1) edged the Rebels (2-1) at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.

Winning pitcher Brian Russell (1-0) fanned six and allowed one hit in 4 1/3 innings.

Ben Fredbloom was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI for South. Kevin Newman tripled twice and drove in two runs, while Mark Seymour was 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored.
