It took 13 seconds for Lane's Chris Kyles to make his senior homecoming game a memorable one.
The 5-10 speedster returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. His quick score sparked a dominant beginning that saw the Indians parlay a three-touchdown opening quarter into a commanding 28-6 victory over Lincoln Park Friday afternoon at Lane Stadium.
“I was hyped at the start because I knew this was going to be my last omecoming game at Lane,” said Kyles. “Homecoming is a big deal at Lane.”
Lane senior quarterback Luis Negron connected on his first nine passes. He was also dangerous with his feet.
One play after a Marcel Gibson interception, Negron ran 24 yards for a 14-0 Lane lead barely three minutes into the game.
Negron (9-10, 107 yards) also orchestrated a 7-play, 67-yard drive, going 4-4 for 58 yards and adding three carries for 14 yards.
His six-yard strike to Louis Trinca-Pasat put the Indians up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Negron added a seven-yard touchdown run at the start of the third quarter for the Indians (5-1, 3-0 Illini Red Bird).
Lincoln Park (3-2, 0-2) scored on Jake White’s 72-yard touchdown pass to Christian Palmer.
