Leyden hockey team ices pair of victories

Leyden’s hockey team improved to 3-1-1 overall with a pair of wins at home, topping Niles Township 8-5 on Oct. 12 and shutting down Homewood-Flossmoor 6-0 Friday night.

Tony Cruz and Justin O’Donnell scored two goals each against Niles, while Jordan Cruz, Aaron Howard, Anthony Castiglia and Anthony Lopez tallied one goal each. Goalie Anthony Allegretti tended net for the first two periods, and Paul Stomper manned the pipes in the third.

Allegretti and Stomper shared the shutout against H-F, combining for 12 saves. O’Donnell scored two goals, with Tony Cruz, Nick Ponce de Leon, Lopez and Jordan Niedziela adding a goal apiece.
