Lemont knocks off TF North
No. 4 Lemont clinched the South Suburban Blue championship, mauling T.F. North 37-0 Friday in Calumet City.
The win, coupled with Tinley Park’s 42-26 loss to T.F. South, clinched the conference outright for Lemont (8-0, 5-0).
“Winning conference is important to us, our kids and our program, so we’re excited,” Lemont coach Eric Michaelsen said. “We want to win it on our own though. We don’t want somebody else doing the work for us. We’re still looking to beat Oak Forest next week.”
The Indians scored on five of their seven possessions in the first half against T.F. North (5-3, 3-3).
Mike Anzalone (12 carries, 84 yards, 3 TDs) scored on runs of 3, 33 and 10 yards in the first quarter to give Lemont a 21-0 lead. In the second quarter, Christos Giatras (9 carries, 82 yards, 2 TDs) made it 28-0 with a 40-yard touchdown run. Joe Hehir nailed a 24-yard field goal at the end of the second quarter, and Giatras scored on a 3-yard run with 8:26 left in the third quarter to make it 37-0.
