Lemont cruises past Bremen

Lemont took advantage of good field position to build a 28-0 halftime lead Friday night and keep first place in the South Suburban Blue with a 41-6 victory over visiting Bremen.

With linemen Sebastian Koziel, Angelo Fortino and John Tomala and linebackers Kyle Krull, Mike Hayes and Brad Uher doing a lot of the work, No. 18 Lemont (7-0, 4-0) kept Bremen pinned deep in its end of the field.

"We kind of challenged the defense to step up and the offensive line to play more physical, and I think they did it'' said Lemont coach Eric Michaelsen in the wake of a last-second 37-33 victory over Tinley Park last week.

"We took that game as motivation,'' Krull said. "It wasn't Lemont defense. We stepped up and made sure it wouldn't happen again.''

After Lee Taylor caught a 38-yard scoring pass from junior quarterback Mike Hall on Lemont's first possession, running back Mike Anzalone (17 carries, 64 yards) had TD runs of 11 and three yards in the first quarter.

Hall scored on a 3-yard keeper in the second quarter for the 28-0 advantage. Jack Forrest (14 carries, 81 yards) added a 2-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Junior running back David Smith had an 80-yard TD run for Bremen (2-5, 0-4).

Lemont will host T.F. North in a key Blue Division game next week and end its regular season at Hillcrest.
