McGruder leads the way for the Slicers

wo huge plays by Portage's Jake Dixon weren't enough Friday as LaPorte survived a seesaw battle, 23-21. The Slicers (6-3) finished 5-0 at home and 4-3 for a share of second in the Duneland Conference thanks to the best game of Simmie McGruder's career. The 5-6, 155-pound junior ran 17 times for 98 yards.
