Lake Zurich scored four touchdowns in the first half and made those points hold up in a 28-0 prep football non-division win over previously unbeaten and host Lakes on Friday.
Running back Mike Shield tallied a pair of short first-half touchdown runs of seven and one yards. He finished the contest with 131 yards on 17 carries, but could not find the end zone in the second half.
Lake Zurich quarterback Zach Till hooked up with John Orlando on a 54-yard touchdown pass and a 19-yard TD strike to Mike Rantis.
Till, who was 9-for-12 passing for 168 yards, also rushed for 100 yards on 16 carries.
Lakes’ offense was held in check for most of the contest, as the closest the Eagles came to scoring was late in the fourth quarter with an eight-play drive stalled on the 14-yard line and a field-goal attempt was missed.
Direll Clark was Lakes’ top rusher with 55 yards on 12 carries.
Lake Zurich improved to 3-1 overall on the season, while the Lakes dropped to 3-1.
Lake Zurich returns to North Suburban Conference Lake Division play next Friday at Mundelein, while Lakes travels to two-time defending NSC Prairie Division champion Vernon Hills.
