Joliet Catholic 4-9, St. Patrick 0-1:Pitching was the key in the East Suburban Catholic Conference sweep for the Hilltoppers (16-3, 7-1), who have won nine straight.
In Game 1, senior left-hander Steve Kazak (2-2) threw a one-hit ball with seven strikeouts and one walk. Nick Ratajczak had two hits and an RBI.
"Our pitching was solid again today," Joliet Catholic coach Jared Voss said.
Junior righty Brock Liston (1-0) pitched a two-hitter in Game two. He struck out three and walked two. Brian Budzinski went 3-for-3 with a triple. Nate Minarich (triple, three RBI) and John Ruettiger (triple) had two hits.
