Immaculate Conception's Conor Hendricks is making up for lost time, as the senior running back rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns Saturday afternoon in just his second game this season, sparking the Knights to a 39-28 Suburban Christian Gold victory over Wheaton Academy.
Hendricks scored three TD's and collected 155 yards last week in his season debut during a 42-14 victory over Aurora Central Catholic.
On Saturday, Hendricks was just one component of an explosive running attack, as IC (5-2, 3-1) churned out 434 rushing yards and scored six rushing touchdowns. Jose Godinez ran for three TD's while gaining 92 yards on eight carries, and signal-caller Cody Kotlow churned out 106 yards on eight touches, including an 80-yard TD scamper.
Wheaton Academy (5-2, 3-1) led throughout most of the first-half, mostly behind the arm of quarterback Tommy Decker. He threw two scoring passes to Luke Thorson in the first-half, and added a TD strike to Tyler Bosse in the opening minutes of the final quarter. Decker completed 32 of 46 attempts for 263 yards.
Kai Libby, who rushed for 96 yards on 16 carries, scored a first quarter touchdown to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead less than five minutes into the first quarter.
