Jackson, Hyde Park coast by Richards

It was clear-cut case of one team that couldn't do anything wrong and another team that couldn't do anything right as No. 17 Hyde Park defeated host Chicago Richards 84-30 Wednesday in the Red-Central.
The Thunderbirds (4-0, 2-0) jumped out to a 26-5 lead after the first quarter, increased it to 50-12 at halftime and didn't allow the Angels (2-6, 0-2) past the 20-point mark until midway through the fourth quarter.
Freshman Greg Jackson, who scored 20 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, led four Hyde Park players in double figures. Kyle Davis had 16 points, six rebounds and six steals; Deshawn Green narrowly missed a triple double with 13 points, a game-high 15 rebounds and eight steals; and Marcellis Davis also scored 13 points.
Hyde Park forced 42 turnovers and outrebounded the Angels 37-14.
"It's not personal" Hyde Park coach Lamont Bryant said of the lopsided margin. "As coaches, we also coach for the next game. If a kid doesn't give you 110 percent, he knows he'll be sitting on the bench next to me. When the reserves come in, they are expected to play with the same type of intensity.
"I am sorry we have to play opponents like this, but hopefully they'll get better and they'll use this as a learning experience. It is a credit to them that they never stopped competing despite the score."
Richards coach Jeff Whitaker echoed Bryant's sentiments. "We are a very young team and our inexperience showed," he said. "But we are not hanging our head and we'll keep trying to get better."
Cortez Williams led the Angels with 11 points.
