Hinsdale Central cruises past Hinsdale South

Hinsdale Central used big offensive games from quarterback Alex Hodakowski and running back John Skokna to defeat Hinsdale South 48-13 Friday and retain possession of The Doings Cup traveling trophy awarded to the annual winner of the District 86 showdown.

The Red Devils (2-3) now own a 16-12 lead in the series and have won the game the nine years in a row - the longest winning streak by either school in the series.

On the Red Devils' first play from scrimmage, Skokna scored on a 52-yard run and the Red Devils were off and running. After a three-and-out, they scored touchdowns on their next three possessions for a 27-6 halftime lead and touchdowns on their first two possessions of the second half to open a 41-6 advantage in the third quarter.

Hodakowski was 11-for-19 passing for 148 yards and rushed for three TDs. Skokna had two TDs and a combined 150 yards (90 rushing, 60 receiving).

After a 7-yard TD run by Ryan Kelleher and Skokna's 18-yard TD catch, Hodakowski had the next three scores on runs of 5, 5 and 6 yards. Hodakowski's last TD came right after a 54-yard interception return by Sean Houlihan.

Backup quarterback Dan Callahan had the game's final TD on a 6-yard run. The Red Devils' Matt Connor and Brad Anlauf also had interceptions.

Hinsdale South's Nick Sarocco kicked 31 and 20-yard field goals in the first half. Kylen Williams scored on a 6-yard run with 5:59 left.

Hinsdale South quarterback Michael Cross was 8-for-19 for 92 yards with D.J. King catching five passes for 44 yards. Keontae Hall had 12 carries for 48 yards.

Hinsdale Central senior center/nose guard and Michigan State recruit Jack Allen sat out the game to rest a left hip flexor injury but is expected to play in next Saturday's homecoming game against Oak Park.
