First-half scores hold up for Willowbrook

Two first-half scores stood up for Willowbrook Friday night, as the Warriors survived a late Hinsdale South rally to earn a 14-7 West Suburban Gold victory in Villa Park.
Steve Ferguson (4-of-7, 86 yards) tossed a 53-yard scoring strike to Tyler Adams early in the second quarter, and then Jabril Jones rushed for a 31-yard TD less than a minute before half-time to give Willowbrook a 14-0 lead. Jones led the Warriors (2-6, 2-4) with 72 yards on 12 carries.
Hinsdale South did not score until the final period, when Nick Sarocco tossed a 13-yard fourth down TD pass to Chris Chacko in the corner of the end-zone with just under seven minutes to play. Sarocco completed 9-of-18 passes for 114 yards.
It appeared that the Hornets (2-6, 1-4) would have two more scoring chances, but one drive ended on an interception, and then a fourth down off-sides penalty allowed Willowbrook to gain a first-down and subsequently run out the clock.
"In the second-half we definitely did come out with more energy," Hinsdale coach Alex Bitto said. "We played, it seemed anyway, much more physical in the second-half than we did in the first, defensively for sure."
