Neuqua Valley fell short of capturing a state championship a year ago when it fell in triple overtime to Barrington in the Class AA title game.

But the Wildcats will get another chance to capture a title this year after they advanced to this weekend's Class 3A finals.

Bryan Ciesiulka scored a pair of goals and Dan O'Leary had two assists to lead Neuqua to a 3-0 win over Hinsdale Central in the Benedictine University Supersectional.

"This was a great win and we played really well the whole game," Ciesiulka said. "For a lot of us, last year left a bad taste for us so we wanted to get back to state and have a better trip this time."

The Wildcats (21-4-2) won their eighth-straight game while the Red Devils (17-7-2), who were fourth in Class AA last year, saw their seven-game win streak halted.

Scott Davis scored the other goal for Neuqua while Jack Turancik recorded the shutout.
