Hillcrest 36, Marshall 8: Ryan Keen ignited Hillcrest and Herb Offord delivered the knockout blows. Keen returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a score and Offord accounted for four touchdowns in the Hawks’ Class 5A win over Marshall at Hanson Stadium.
Following Keen’s return score, Offord (7-for-12, 151 yards, 74 yards rushing) scored on a five-yard touchdown burst for a 14-0 Hillcrest lead at the break. Hillcrest (6-4) broke the game open as Offord scored on a one-yard run and threw a 56-yard pass to Joseph Bailey. Offord also threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Ken Burke.
‘‘I like scoring with my feet, but when I throw touchdown passes, it gives me a lot of confidence,’’ Offord said. ‘‘My teammates like me when I complete long passes.’’
Marshall defensive tackle Montigue Allen returned a fumble for touchdown for the Commandos (5-5).
