Rogowski, Crawford make commitments

DePaul coach Doug Bruno landed his third recruit this fall when Hersey all-state shooting guard Megan Rogowski gave her oral commitment Monday during a campus visit to Lincoln Park. Illinois also landed an oral commitment Monday from Proviso East guard Ivory Crawford.

Rogowski, who has already scored 1,500 career points, and holds seven school records averaged 21.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists to lead the Huskies to the Class 4A Final Four last year.

"I had a great visit and loved Coach Bruno and his staff and the players," Rogowski said. "I really am looking forward to playing in the Big East and living in Lincoln Park. It was the right school for me."

Earlier, DePaul got commitments from Whitney Young point guard Chanise Jenkins and 6-1 forward Alexis Gallagher of Germantown (Pa.) Academy.

Rogowski made 73 three-point shots last season, and she has connected on 79 percent from free-throw line in her career. Hersey's leading scorer for three years, Rogowski picked the Blue Demons over Marquette and Illinois State.

Illinois women's coach Jolette Law received a commitment from Crawford, who averaged 16.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.9 assists last season. Crawford is Illinois' third commitment this fall. The others are 5-10 wing Nia Oden and 5-9 guard Alexis Smith, both from New York.

Crawford, whose other finalists included DePaul and Missouri transferred to Proviso East during her freshman year after having started at Providence-St. Mel.

During last season, Crawford's Proviso East coach Ezra PridGeon told the Sun-Times, "She is our floor general and plays multiple positions. She's an outstanding point guard and is very athletic. She's crazy about basketball, a fanatic. Just her presence on the floor makes us go, and she gives us that extra lift."
