Hersey graduated almost all of the players who helped hit a

program-record 39 home runs last season.

Saturday showed the Huskies aren't out of power yet.

Joe Perricone, Mike Tsiolis and Brian Tansor all hit homers in Hersey's 5-2 win over host Evanston, which came into the game

undefeated.

"We're looking really strong with our batting this year," said the senior Tsiolis, who already has two homers after hitting none as a junior.

All of Hersey's runs came off the homers.

Perricone started the four-base parade with his solo shot in the first inning. Tsiolis followed with a two-out homer in the second. After the ball cleared the fence, he immediately looked into the dugout.

"Joe and I are having a race to see who can hit more," said Tsiolis, who is tied with Perricone for the team lead. "I told him it was on after he hit that one in the first inning."

The Huskies (3-2) added to their lead in the third inning with Tansor's two-run homer for a 5-1 lead. Hersey, which won 25 games and the MSL.

East title in 2010, now has five homers this spring.

Meanwhile, Trevor Haas did his part on the mound. He scattered eight hits over six innings for the win.

Evanston scored one run in the second on Ameer Cannon's two-out hit that scored Kenny Horwat.

The Wildkits (4-1) made the game more interesting in their final at-bat after Noah Doppelt led off with a double and Gabe Derman drew a walk.

After a strikeout, Trevor Forde brought home a run with a double. But the rally ended there. Forde and Cannon each finished with two hits.

Haas and Tansor both had two hits for the Huskies.

"This is something we needed," Forde said. "After you get to 4-0, you get a big ego. Sometimes a good butt-kicking is probably the best thing that could have happened to us. Now we go back to work."
