Grant and Lakes both won Thursday to finish 3-0 in pool play and will meet at 7 on Friday night for the tourney title.

The Bulldogs won the title the first year it was held, in 2006. Lakes won it in 2007.

Lakes 54, Northridge 42

Justin Schneider scored 17 points to lead the Eagles to first place in their pool.

Direll Clark added 11 points.

Richmond 37, Grayslake North 36

Danny Mateling had 14 points and Mark Hall added 11 for the Knights, who have yet to scratch in this tourney.

Round Lake 65, Johnsburg 57

Juddon Carter poured in 31 points to lead the Panthers to a big win.

Daniel Uriostegui added 23 points for the winners.

Grant 65, McHenry 49

Alan Lewis scored 18 points and drained four three-pointers to key Grant to victory.

Sean Wells had 10 of 17 points in the fourth quarter, which began with Grant up just 42-38.

“We did a great job keeping our composure tonight,” said Grant coach Wayne Bosworth. “It seems like someone different steps up each night.”

Grant trailed by nine early in the third quarter, but outscored McHenry 15-2 to take the lead for good.

“This is our first chance to repeat (as tourney champ),” said Bosworth. “It’s a great situation to have this opportunity.

“Lakes is a similar team as us. They like to push the basketball. This could turn into a track meet tomorrow.”
