Glenbrook South at Glenbrook North

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

Outlook: Glenbrook South has won the last four games in this rivalry, but this is the teams’ first meeting since 2008. Senior Mac Zabriskie has passed for five touchdowns in two games for South (1-1), which beat Prospect and lost to Stevenson. Standout lineman Mike Ermel and junior back Grant Rushing (four touchdowns) pace the offense for North (1-1),

Mount Carmel at De La Salle

When: 7 p.m. Friday at Gately.

Outlook: After knocking off two of the Public League’s better teams in Simeon and Morgan Park, Mount Carmel (2-0) takes on a De La Salle team led by sophomore back Mikale Wilbon (43 carries, 511 yards, seven touchdowns). Two-way standout Brandon Greer (226 yards, 13 yards per carry, three touchdowns) paces the Caravan, which is trying to give coach Frank Lenti his 306th career win. That would put him in a tie with former Richards coach Gary Korhonen for the all-time state lead.

Glenbard West at Lyons

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Outlook: Lyons (1-1) upset Glenbard West in Week 9 last season to forge a three-way tie for the West Suburban Gold title between the Lions, Hilltoppers and York. Expect the Hilltoppers (2-0) and their ball-hawking defense led by Penn State-bound lineman Tommy Schutt to be out for revenge. This is the third straight ranked opponent for the Lions, who handed Stevenson its first regular-season loss since 2008 in Week 1, and were shut out by Downers South last Friday.

Richwoods vs. Joliet Catholic

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Joliet Memorial Stadium.

Outlook: This is a rematch of last year’s Class 5A state quarterfinal won 17-14 by Richwoods. Joliet Catholic (2-0) has a powerhouse ground game paced by Northwestern recruit Malin Jones and Ty Isaac, who averaged more than 17 yards on 10 carries last week vs. Notre Dame. Junior Kendrick Foster ran for 216 yards last week for Richwoods, which is 0-2 for the first time since 2002.

Waubonsie Valley vs. Bartlett

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Streamwood.

Outlook: The Upstate Eight Valley sent four teams to the second round of the IHSA playoffs last season and this game could have a major influence on this year’s postseason race. Air Force-bound quarterback A.J. Bilyeu has thrown for five touchdowns for Bartlett (1-1). Waubonsie Valley, 2-0 for the first time since 1992, has a standout receiver in senior Dee Gray,

Simeon vs. Morgan Park

When: 7 p.m. Saturday at Gately.

Outlook: These two traditional Public League powers are off to 0-2 starts and will try to avoid going into next week’s conference openers winless. Simeon played last week without quarterback Robert Gregory, an Arkansas recruit sidelined by a collarbone injury. Morgan Park has struggled offensively, managing just one touchdown total in losses to Catholic League Blue powers Providence and Mount Carmel.
