Quarterback Mac Zabriski (7-for-12, 145 yards) keyed a 20-point second quarter surge with three touchdown passes as Glenbrook South rolled past Prospect 34-10.
Zabriski completed scoring strikes of nine yards to Zack Jones, 44 yards to Sully Stadler and 25 yards to Charley Tisch in the second.
“My receivers did a great job getting open,” Zabriski said. “We were able to execute the plays as they were drawn up in practice.”
Zabriski’s fourth touchdown was a 25-yard pass to Kevin Schroeder, which put the Titans up 27-10 after three quarters.
Billy Pappas (85 yards) raced 32 yards for the final score.
“Matt is a great leader,” said Pappas. “He is one of the hardest workers on the team. He’s one of the last ones to leave practice.”
Prospect opened the scoring on a 31-yard field goal by Vito Anzalone with 5:55 left in the first quarter.
The Knights then cut the deficit to 20-10 when sophomore Sam Mazukelli (92 yards) rumbled 48 yards with 9:30 left in the third.
But Propect missed an opportunity to do further damage. Harry Hamilton intercepted Zabriski and moved deep into Titans territory. But penalties and incomplete passes forced the Knights to turn the ball over on downs.
Zabriski capped a 72-yard drive with his touchdown pass to Schroeder.
