Glenbard South defeated Ridgewood 61-20 Friday night in Norridge in a Metro Suburban Conference contest.

Leading the way for the Raiders was senior running back Wesley Sanders, who rushed for 150 yards and four touchdowns, including a 57-yard score. Raiders senior quarterback Tyler Padera added 146 all-purpose yards, including 126 on the ground and scored a touchdown. Sophomore running back Zach Smith chipped in with three rushing touchdowns.

“He’s a hard-nosed player. He’s a team player and a catalyst on our offense,” said Raiders head coach Jeremy Cordell, regarding Sanders. “He was able to get his yards when he could.”

With the win, the Raiders clinch the Metro Suburban Conference championship for just the fourth time in school history.

“It feels great,” said Cordell. “We started 1-3 and we’ve won four in a row. We’ve stayed the course and its rewarding for our kids. We’ll go in next week and try to get better and try to get our sixth win.

Overall, the Raiders improve to 5-3 and 4-0 in conference play while the Rebels fall to 4-4 and 3-1 in conference.

The Rebels were led by P.J. O’Connor, who ran for 106 yards and had all three touchdowns for the Rebels, including a 52-yard score.
