Quaterback combo leads Notre Dame

Notre Dame made good use of the talents of its two quarterbacks Friday night as the Dons rolled to a 42-15 road victory over Glenbard South.
Senior quarterback Tim Whalen threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Nick Pieruccini showed off his athleticism, running for 92 yards and throwing for a touchdown.
"Tim and Nick are our leaders," said Notre Dame head coach Mike Hennessy. "It's a real bonus with Nick's ability to play anywhere on the field."
The Dons creatively packaged the two as they dissected the Glenbard South defense.
After Notre Dame recovered a fumble, Whalen threw a bubble screen to Pieruccini who then threw a 34-yard touchdown to Jack Meyer. The double pass put the Dons up 28-7 with 51 seconds left in the first half.
"We worked on the play all week," Whalen said. "The defense bit and Nick threw a perfect ball."
Notre Dame running back Connor Thomas also added to the onslaught with 65 yards rushing and a touchdown.
