Genoa-Kingston continues playoff run

If the title of heavy underdog wore on Genoa-Kingston at all, it didn't show Tuesday night at the Class 2A Genoa-Kingston Sectional Semifinal as it defeated by Rock Falls 62-49.
Senior Bryan Baumgarten had a big night scoring 32 points. Baumgarten was big at the free throw line, going 15-for-18. Specifically, he sank his last 11 free throws.
Baumgarten said going to the line as much as he did was a little bit of a surprise.
"After missing the first three free throws, I was getting a little aggravated," he said. "But I was a little surprised they kept coming at me after I sank a few."
Cogs' coach Corey Jenkins said the win wasn't much of a surprise to him in terms of effort.
"These are a good group of guys," he said. "They always play like this. They always play hard."
The Cogs (14-15) came into Tuesday's night game after defeating Westminster Christian 46-43 in overtime at the Piano Class 2A Regional. They were considered the underdog heading into the game playing against the Rockets (23-7).
With the win, the Cogs will play in the Class 2A Sectional title Friday night.
