Cross Country: Beecher regional

Beecher: Bishop McNamara finished with 41 points to edge out Beecher (43 points) and capture the Beecher Regional Championship. Gardner-South Wilmington, Clifton Central and Paxton-Buckley also qualified for sectionals.

Tom Pacey of Paxton-Buckley finished with a time of 16:25:7 which was good enough to take first in front of Beecher's Griffin Nykaza (16:35:6). Beecher's Matt Paarlberg finished in third place followed by Garrett Wasson of Bishop McNamara and Jeremy Weber of Clifton Central.

Mike Lovino and Troy Ehringer both of Reed Custer will advance as individuals. Phil Johnson (Prairie Central), J. Ryan Lindemulder (Peotone) and Dionate Nathanial (St. Anne) all qualified as individuals.

Beecher finished first place overall in the girls race in front of Herscher. Hoopeston, Bishop McNamara and Gardner South rounded out the top five teams.

Hoopeston's Belinda Cohen finished in first place in front of Chicago Christain's Julie Camp who qualified for the race as an individual. Erika Ramos finished in third place for Hooperston. Lexington's Mary Francis Leake (fourth place) and Kaley Ummel (fifth) will qualify as individuals.

Kara Johnson (10th place) of Paxton-Buckley and Stacie Hall (14th place) were the two individual qualifiers.
