Gage Park

2007 record: 2-7

Coach: Rudy Ramsey (2nd year)

Returning starters: 18

Players to watch:

QB Rasheed Washington, 5-10, 180, Sr.

TE Oscar Martinez, 6-2, 280, Sr.

FB Adonis Weathers, 5-11, 260, Sr.

LB Demonte Tate, 6-2, 250, Jr.

DE Ronald Montgomery, 6-1, 240, Sr.

OT Daniel Jarrel, 6-2, 280, Jr.

Outlook: Coach Rudy Ramsey is looking to make tremendous strides from last year's transitional team that won just two games. Behind the play of quarterback Rasheed Washington and fullback Adonis Weathers, the Owls look to play a ball control style offense and will rely a quick defense to push them over the top.

Coach's take: "The strengths of our team are going to be the running game and the defense. We were a very young team last year, mostly sophomores. We were in most of our games before losing by a very small margin. I think we're going to be much improved. These kids have been playing against varsity competition since they were freshmen, so that experience is really going to help them this year.

"I'm looking to take our division this year. It's a much different league than last year. Juarez is the only team left from our schedule [last year], and we beat them. We have three new teams and Prosser is down from the Illini." -- Rudy Ramsey
