The Pioneer Press Northwest Group covers 21 football teams, including all of the MSL.

1. Cary-Grove (11-0)

Seventh game in a row that the Trojans held a team to seven points or less. Their 10-7 win over St. Charles East in 7A sets up a rematch with FVC Valley rival Crystal Lake South on Saturday. C-G won the first meeting 24-7.

2. Barrington (9-2)

Lowest point total of the season still results in 7-2 win over New Trier. Broncos must score points Saturday, though, when Charlie Goro and Maine South come to town.

3. Schaumburg (7-4)

Smallest school in 8A still alive after a 55-21 win over NSC Lake champion Warren. Next up is No. 1-seeded and UEC champ Bartlett at home Saturday. Winner may get Maine South in semis.

4. Crystal Lake South (9-2)

Beat previously unbeaten Boylan 28-0 on the road to advance to the quarterfinals for first time since 2005.

5. Fremd (8-3)

MSL West co-champs fell flat in 21-7 loss to Bartlett on the road.

6. Huntley (9-2)

Its 28-24 loss to Grant in the final minutes Friday left Raiders one win away from tying program record for wins. The defeat was their second in the last three weeks of the year.

7. Palatine (7-3)

Rebuild or reload? West co-champs will find out with the graduation of many of the team's top players.
