The finale of the round-robin Elmwood Park Thanksgiving Tournament featured the best two teams, but the visitors from Francis Parker didn't wait to leave much doubt as to which team was the best on Wednesday night. The Colonels (3-0) came out with big runs to start the first and third quarters and one to end the third on their way to a comfortable 67-53 win over the Tigers (2-1) and the tournament championship.
Three Colonels scored in double figures with junior guard Judd Barron leading all scorers with 16 points. Senior guard Langdon Neal added 15 to the winning cause, including a half-court shot that ended the third quarter with Parker on a 7-0 run that covered the final 24 seconds. Senior Graham Harboe contributed 10 points with junior Garrison Fencik scoring nine points of his own.
After falling behind by as much as 15 points midway through the second quarter, the Tigers woke up late in the second stanza cutting the deficit to eight heading into halftime. Parker then went on a 9-1 run in the first three minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach for good.
Junior Julian Molina led the Tigers on the scoreboard with 13 points while classmate Anthony Talia tallied 12. Junior Alec Gomez and senior Bryan Palmer each added eight points in the loss.
