Fenwick has named athletic director Scott Thies its new football coach, the school confirmed Wednesday.
Thies, who played Division III football and has coached the sport at Fenwick for eight years, replaces Joe DiCanio. DiCanio was 46-40 in seven-plus seasons as the Friars’ coach, including 1-2 this year. He led Fenwick to five IHSA playoff berths and the 2010 Prep Bowl championship.
“We are confident Scott will do a great job with the program and build upon the strong tradition that coaches before him have established,” Fenwick principal Peter Groom said in a statement released by the school.
