Eisenhower took charge against host Evergreen Park in the teams’ South Suburban Red opener Friday night, the Cardinals winning
28-9.

The Cardinals got on the board in the first quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by Leo Okeke. The score was set up by a 20-yard strike from quarterback Justin Geiter to receiver Ben Bouie.

A 34-yard run by Evergreen Park’s Victor Baker helped set up Jeremy Esparza’s 22-yard field goal to get Evergreen Park on the board, making it 7-3.

The Cardinals went up 14-3, a Geiter 11-yard run putting them in position for his 5-yard scoring strike to Lavantis Lewis.

Okeke struck again with 3:28 left in the third quarter, scoring on a 6-yard run as the Cardinals went up 21-3.

Evergreen Park reached pay dirt on an 87-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jesse McLain to Eric Deddo with 8:52 left in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs closed to within 21-9.

Eisenhower’s Lewis closed out the scoring on a 55-yard run late in the contest.
